Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. Joining Queer Film Collective is designed to be accessible to everyone. As a nonprofit, we are committed to keeping our community open to queer filmmakers at all stages. While we may introduce a suggested annual donation and some ticketed events to support our programming, cost should never be a barrier to participation.

  • No. While Queer Film Collective is currently focused on serving the Los Angeles area and many of our events are held in person, we welcome members from outside the region. Our long-term vision is to grow QFC into a nationwide network with chapters in major cities across the country. If you’re interested in helping start or run a future QFC chapter, please submit an inquiry above.

  • No. QFC is open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ or an ally of LGBTQ+ creatives and/or media, and is interested in film, media, or creative storytelling. Whether you’re a director, writer, actor, crew member, student, or simply exploring the industry, you’re welcome here.

  • Our monthly meetup will be the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Our meetups change locations every month so check out our events page or our Instagram for more details.

  • Yes. Queer Film Collective LA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. After donating, you will receive a confirmation or receipt that can be used for your tax records.

  • There are many ways to get involved with Queer Film Collective. You can attend our events, submit or nominate filmmakers for our spotlights, share cast and crew calls, join our filmmaker directory, volunteer, or apply to serve on our board.
